We Rue Royale, also known as Route 360, one of the oldest in Spain, built around 1650. The farmers owned a strip of land River cliff. Le Segneuer (the local governor) ordered farmers to build a road on their property in order to deliver their crops farmed to Quebec City. For a quick trip through the unit area Rte. 138, which runs along the St. Lawrence River. But for a sense of history and scenic beauty, Rue Royale is the preferred option. Along the road are houses of the 17th, 18th and 19th, from simple thatched houses, the mansard of lips to help remove snow, Victorian houses also dot the road.

Not to be missed on the way is the Interpretation Center at Château-Richer, where a teacher tells the story of four years of the area using models to illustrate his presentation. Many of the buildings are still spoken on the road. The Center is located in a former convent, built in 1903. This is the convent of third parties, or school, built on the site. The basis of the original built in 1694 are still visible in the basement.

This is further sugar shack, a small farm, which produces various organic maple sugar. The owner explained collection methods of sugar. It is not the sap is collected, but sugar water that flows when there is frost and thaw in the same day. This can go one by one week until the sap. The sugar water is boiled down to make syrup, jellies, mustard, and vinegar. Course of samples available and a purchase is always welcome. Buy a little mustard and vinegar. He also gave us some interesting recipes. They ship to anywhere in the world.

A few miles down the road is the Atelier Pare, a museum of wooden sculptures of the legends of French Canadians. Although the original sculptor died several years ago, his work remains in the open workshop, is opened for viewing. At this time the carver was working on a large piece of a view of the Chateau Frontenac in Quebec City. A similar piece by selling $ 7000.00. Smaller sculptures were also available at more reasonable prices.

A little more than miles east is the Sanctuary of St. Anne de Beaupre, dedicated to Saint Anne, the mother of Mary. The original church was destroyed by fire in 1922, was replaced by a large Gothic style with over 240 windows. Pilgrims have been coming here for over three hundred years to drink water from the spring. Many crutches and canes attest to the miracles that have occurred. When I there forty years ago, remembered it as something different. The reason is that the shrine was still under construction and not completed until 1976. Also on the property Scalla are Santa, the reputation of being a replica of the steps that Jesus went up to see Pontius Pilate. Pilgrims climb these steps on their knees saying a prayer brief on each. A life-size Camino de la Cruz, cast in bronze winds its way up a steep hill. Across the road is a free camping area dry for pilgrims. It sits on the banks of the St. Lawrence River.

A little more than miles east is the village of San Joaquin, one of the most old farming communities in the province of Quebec. San Joaquin happens to be the father of Mary. This is not mentioned in the Bible, but in one of the Apocrypha. The original church, burned by the British, was replaced in 1779. An audio presentation will give a history of the parish and the artwork in the church. In the same area is the Wildlife refuge Tourmente Cap, a stopover for snow geese and other migratory birds returning from winter vacation south.

Back to the main road, Route 138 is the Mount Anne Canyon and falls. For a fee you can take the tram and visit the waterfalls and suspension bridges overlooking the canyon with many waterfalls. If you become on Route 360 is Monte Ste. Ski resort of Anna and the Interpretation Center Les Falls September, part of the hydroelectric plant in the region. Ticket prices are necessary to visit these sites.

In general we have traveled about 100 miles when touring this beautiful area of the Laurentian Mountains and the plains coastal river.
